Two Baskets in Colour, Reds and Creams of Imbrication
A colour plate showing a Lower Thompson basket, AMNH 16-9236, and a Thompson basket from the upper Fraser River, AMNH 16-8835, from the Bureau of American Ethnology coiled basketry monograph. The colour reproduction preserves the warm reds and creams of imbricated wild cherry bark and grass overlay that black and white plates cannot convey. The upper Fraser River basket comes from the country where Nlaka'pamux and Secwepemc territories meet. Published in Coiled Basketry in British Columbia and Surrounding Region by H. K. Haeberlin, James Teit and Helen H. Roberts, edited by Franz Boas, in the Forty-first Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology (Washington, 1928).
