A hand woven table made by a Nlaka'pamux (Thompson) artist, in the UBC Museum of Anthropology, Vancouver, catalogue number A7252. In the late 1800s and early 1900s Interior Salish weavers adapted ancient coiling and weaving techniques to new forms such as tables, cups and suitcases for sale to settlers, an important source of family income. The Nlaka'pamux are close neighbours and relatives of the Secwepemc within the Interior Salish family.
