A coiled basket made by an Interior Salish weaver of British Columbia, photographed in the collection of the UBC Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver. Interior Salish coiled baskets were built from cedar or spruce root coils sewn in spirals, and were strong enough to carry heavy loads and even hold water. The maker's name was not recorded by the museum, a common silence in early collections that modern curation works to repair.
