An intricately worked Interior Salish basket in the UBC Museum of Anthropology, Vancouver, catalogue number A2299a-b. The geometric surface patterning is produced by imbrication, a decorative overlay technique in which strips of wild cherry bark and dried grass are folded under the sewing strands. Imbrication is the signature of Interior Salish basketry, including that of Secwepemc, Nlaka'pamux and St'at'imc weavers.
