A Burden Basket Among Flower-Pattern Baskets
Five coiled baskets, including a burden basket and two baskets with flower designs the weavers linked to the Indian paintbrush, reproduced as Plate 40 of the Bureau of American Ethnology coiled basketry monograph. One pattern was called Circling in the Nicola Valley, Root digger at Lytton and Cross head at Spences Bridge, showing how a single design carried different names across Nlaka'pamux country. Published in Coiled Basketry in British Columbia and Surrounding Region by H. K. Haeberlin, James Teit and Helen H. Roberts, edited by Franz Boas, in the Forty-first Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology (Washington, 1928).
